Scenarios in Blood Gas Interpretation

Here are some interesting (or boring and routine) blood gases, observed in real clinical scenarios.

Where necessary, patient details have been obscured by the Black Boxes of Confidentiality, and clinical situations layered with such confabulation that renders identifying features of these cases totally unrecognisable, while preserving the core issues relevant to their interpretation.

The cases are in no particular order. The interpretation of each case is the author's own and as such is subject to errors and misunderstandings, which he would be delighted to correct if they are identified.
